Mission
The Brain Tumor Avengers, Kids Division (BTAK) is a volunteer effort to financially support research through the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium. BTAK provides a coordinated network of support and information for all fundraising events to cure pediatric brain tumors.
The BTAK raises awareness and funds for BTAK headquarters, also known as the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia founded the CBTTC with the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Seattle Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The consortium aims to overcome the many challenges pediatric brain tumor researchers fac…e because of limited samples, lack of conformity when collecting, processing and analyzing brain tumors, and the lack of NIH funding supporting pediatric brain tumor research. By freely sharing collected biospecimens and the associated data, and promoting collaborative approaches that apply the very latest technologies to the understanding of pediatric brain tumors, the CBTTC Research teams aim to accelerate the discovery process in order to advance more effective treatments for pediatric brain tumors.
